Special Lab Puppy Kasi needs a home and help with vetting!

If you can help with either, Kasi and I would be so grateful...

location: Monticello,Ga.

Update from Shelia: Kasi went to a specialist but they could not help her. So she needs to go see another doctor. I am going to get her spayed and get the bad eye removed..She is such a sweetie and loves to be close to someone...She is moving
around a little better ..i think she is learning her surroundings...

Kasi was found on a dirt road about 2 weeks ago with one eye damaged and a place on her neck that had maggots in it.. This nice man picked her up and took her home to try and save her..
She was very sick and he nursed her back to health with a lot of love and food. He didn't have the money to take her to the vet but he did his best...
He called me on Tuesday and asked me to take her into my rescue because he couldn't keep her and wanted her to get the medical attention she needed and a loving home...
When I saw her it was heartbreaking to see how safe she was with him and how sad he was to leave her...
He was crying so hard when he drove
off and she was just sitting there waiting for him to come back..
I know she will make someone a wonderful companion and will always be their loyal friend..She is so grateful of anything I do for her and always wagging her tail....But, she is very meek and unsure of her
surroundings and needs to be in a home with a loving family that can give her the attention and love she so needs...
This little girl has been thru so much iin her short lifetime and deserves to know how good life can be when given a chance....
The vet said her damaged eye has to be removed to prevent infection and the other eye appears normal but for some reason, the eye and brain are not communicating..I would like to take her to a specialist for an evaluation ,but dont have the funds ....
So, I guess there are two things that need to happen....funds to get her the medical attention she needs and a loving home to provide her
with a lifetime of love!!!

Lab hit by car needs RESCUE and Donations

Here is link for CHIPIN
http://rescuedonation.chipin.com/chocolate-lab-hit-by-car

WEDNESDAY UPDATE:TROOPER survived 3 hours of Orthopedic Surgery
He had a very bad fracture of the radius and ulna. Radius had plate and screws put in but x-ray showed the screws were too long. Had to go back and put in shorter screws. Has a full leg cast with some type of brace over his shoulder. Was also neutered so he doesn't have to have anesthesia again. His strong HW+ makes everything a little riskier. They said the biggest risk now is a "worm embolus". Should get out of vet hosp. in about 10 days and possibly start HW treatment in 6-8 weeks if there are no complications from the orthopedic surgery. I am so thankful that he can now have lots of IV pain meds and antibiotics and start on the road to recovery. Thanks again for all the support you have shown this week. He is worth every bit of the gray hair he gave me!!
MONDAY UPDATE: Trooper was hit by a car on Thursday and his owner turned him over to AC. Connie an angel volunteer could not leave him there to die and she brought him home yesterday. He has taken a turn for the worst. Thank God for a vet who is coming in today on Memorial Day to give him immediate vet care. They are en route to vet now. Please the volunteer who saved Trooper needs help with his vetting and surgery. Please donate, crosspost, and save prayers for this guy who has been through so much, really is a Trooper and is so sweet.

__________________________________________________________________________
This beautiful chocolate lab now belongs to Paulding County. The owner signed the papers today realeasing him to the county. He needs rescue!!! And, he needs to have surgery quickly before there are complications from waiting too long.
Message from Connie on 5/22/09
I have stopped to help two dogs in two days that had been HBC. On Wed., I took a 7 lb. terrier to vet and he had surgery yesterday to debride wounds on back legs and neuter. One testicle was hanging out of scrotum. I know someone posted this somewhere but I don't know which site. He has to be sedated again tomorrow to irrigate the drains and change dressings. I put him on my credit card, $100 down, and bill is $436 more already. When I see postings for ill and injured animals on SGD, I donate to as many as I can, and sometimes $100-200. I am picking up and transporting 3-4 days a week and never charge a cent for gas. I am paying the vetting for mom & 9 puppies I'm fostering.

Yesterday I stopped to help a choclate lab HBC and took him to the vet. He was taken to a county vet facility by AC and returned to AC today. I was told this morning that his Fx arm and shoulder would require pins and the better option may be amputation. I'm calling the vet back this afternoon for an estimate on the cost of amputation for his left arm. I have called a few rescues I know but no one has offered to rescue him. He is a 4 y/o FB Choc. Lab with a "block head", I hear that is a good quality. Hopefully, someone out there knows of a rescue that would take in a georgous lab. If we do raise money for his surgery, I have no idea what to do with him afterwards. The owner gave up custody to AC by phone but hasn't signed the paper work yet. I believe there are going to be charges brought against the owner.

I am a retired RN and after 38 yrs. of taking care of people, I decided I like animals alot better and have thrown myself into this rescue thing. Didn't know how addictive it would be. Please contact me directly for info on how to help them

4 y.o. Chocolate Lab Hit by Car
4 y.o. Chocolate Lab

Broken front leg and possibly his shoulder too. A car ran over him and was on top of him. Connie had people stop and lift the car off of him as she dragged him out from under the tire. The owner was there and didn't care about the dog!!!!

Connie brought the dog to Cedarcrest for evaluation. When the owner's cc was denied, he said he would turn the dog over to animal control.

THE OWNER WON'T TAKE CARE OF HIM!!!

Paulding County Animal Control is on their way to pick up the dog right now. They will take him to one of the vets that they use and will pay up to $100 for evaluation and pain meds.

Thankfully, Connie is calling Cedarcrest right now to pay for pain meds before the dog gets transported.

Paulding County's vet will take x-rays and evaluate. The vets at Cedarcrest have already said that this dog can be saved.

Please - let's not let this dog be pts because of it's injuries!!! Let's raise enough money for this dog to get the treatment he needs.

Daisy's Place for SENIOR Labs needs our help!!

Meet Jackson. He is a sweet old guy that was saved by Daisy's Place in Charleston SC. He was pulled from a High Kill Shelter in Georgia.
Jackson arrived in SC with large mass in his mouth, that was thought to be a very nasty abcess, but after being examined by the vet, it may be cancer. The vet has recommended that a biopsy be done to determine what is going to be the best way to proceed. That is being done today.
As of right now between getting him up to date on all his vaccinations, and his neuter and the biopsy today his bill is at $700.
If this mass turns out to be cancer he may have to have part of his jaw removed.
Daisy' Place does WONDERFUL things for these sweet senior labs that are so often discarded. Since January of this year they have placed 14 senior labs in forever homes that were on death row!!! That is AMAZING! Yesterday they saved sweet Belle the senior Lab from the Greenville SC PTS list.
So now Melissa needs our help so that Jackson can get the help he needs and so she can save more dogs.

Please lets pull together and show a fellow rescuer our support.

Here is the site
http://www.wildheirlabradorrescue.org/daisy/
PLEASE donate what you can - every dollar helps save the life of a senior lab!!!

Thank you in advance for your support!

Bark for Art THIS SATURDAY Atlanta LAB Rescue

http://barkforart.org/

Bark for Art is right around the cornerand as we head into the event, we are once again reaching out to you and asking for your support. We need BFA to be even more of a success this year. This year it will be THE determining factor as to whether Atlanta Lab Rescue will be able to move forward and save more lives. In just under two years, ALR has rescued close to 600 labs/mixes. Sadly, waiting in the wings, streaming into high kill shelters en masse, dogs are being dumped with little hope of rescue. Our benefactors ARE their lifeline and our success hinges on your support.

Atlanta Lab Rescue’s BARK FOR ART is back for the 5th year on May 16th
Last year we had over 400 in attendance and hope to have 500-600+ this
year. Interestingly enough, we hope to have as many people as number
of dogs we’ve rescued in less than 2 years – that’s 500! With the economy
the way it is, we need your help to spread the word.

BARK FOR ART is a “Gallery Crawl” with live music, cocktails, good food
and great company. Check out the website at www.barkforart.org for more
info and to purchase tickets. Endive and Skyy Vodka will be providing food and cocktails. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 404-307-8284 or email info@barkforart.org.

We’ve spent far more on average per dog rescued than we could recoup in the adoption fee. Peek in at a litter of throwaway puppies who have broken with parvo and struggling for lives not yet begun...and walk away. Turn your back on a dog that has been chained within an inch of his life, repeatedly attacked and abused or one that’s been hit by a car. Our hearts are invested in EVERY life saved. It is the fundamental reason we are a rescue and the driving force behind every decision we make. We are in the 'business' of saving lives and admittedly compassionate errors have been made along the way. Yes, they have cost us ~ but can you put a price on a life? They are part of our ALR family.

We have streamlined our efforts in order to curb the debt and rescue smarter. We have made great strides in the right direction. However, should we fail to raise the necessary funds to keep us afloat, we will NOT be able to continue. Our rescued dogs have impacted and bettered our lives in countless ways, their counterparts lives hang in the balance every day. Please help us to help them and thank you for your continued support.

Atlanta Lab Rescue needs local puppy fosters

Atlanta Lab Rescue took in a litter of 9 lab puppies last week. Although they are young, they are weaned. ALR is looking for foster homes in the metro Atlanta area to keep these pups for the next several weeks until they are adopted. The goal is to keep 3 or more together in each household.

They are absolutely precious little babies. This is a great opportunity to get involved and have lots of fun with little pups!
